Beijing and Mumbai ready for AMHS

Interoperability test of AMHS link reaffirms COMSOFT¡¯s reputation in key Asian markets.

The Civil Aviation Authorities of India and China have successfully conducted and finalised interoperability tests between their national AMHS hubs and are ready for the interconnection using the new aeronautical communication standard.

Following intensive preparation as required by ICAO, the test was completed successfully between 17-25 April 2012. It was conducted using ICAO¡¯s Asia-Pacific AMHS Manual to ensure the two AMHS systems of different countries could operate, communicate and exchange data safely and reliably.

For a country with one of the world¡¯s largest and fastest growing civil aviation markets, the Aviation Authority of India (AAI) is looking increasingly to upgrade its ATC systems to manage the rapidly expanding volume of air traffic in India¡¯s air space. Mumbai¡¯s showcase, state of the art Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is the country¡¯s busiest airport and a symbol of that expansion.

AMHS allows the transmission of larger messages in various formats at greater speed and reliability compared to its predecessor AFTN. Mumbai uses
COMSOFT¡¯s AMHS node AIDA-NG which has been successfully used since the establishment of the first operational connection in 2009. The AAI wants to benefit from this success and is now ready to operate the new AMHS connection with Beijing, linking the two world¡¯s most populous states via AMHS.

The test demonstrated once again the extreme interoperability of COMSOFT¡¯s AIDA-NG AMHS solution, which is not only market leader in the technology, but proves its capability of establishing AMHS connections between countries anywhere in the world.
