CARC of Jordan Installs New RADAR System

Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission of Jordan has installed a new, fourth generation MSSR radar supplied by Indra.

The installation puts into practice CARC Jordan¡¯s vision of ¡°Safe skies for all Operators¡± while taking into consideration the development of ATM performance, meeting air space users¡¯ requirements and instilling public confidence in air navigation services.

The new radar complies with the requirements stated by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and with the performance demanded by EUROCONTROL to the surveillance and navigation mode S systems.

The IRS-20 MP/S is based on an open and flexible architecture, which allows a configuration according to the needs of the different sites, such as its communications architecture and maintenance network.

With the addition of the new MSSR RADAR, the Jordan ATM system now has three Enroute sectors, two Approach units and an ACC system. The RADAR is fully integrated with ATC tower units for the rapid exchange of information and aeronautical data, offering improved control of air traffic.

Characteristics

Functions:
Detecting targets with enhanced surveillance using selective interrogations; Video and data processing; Data link; Station coordination; Code management: II/SI and ICAO
