COMSOFT Enables AMHS Link Between Bulgaria and Romania
Having completed a very successful AMHS implementation project earlier this year, BULATSA conducted AMHS interoperability tests with their first AMHS partner ROMATSA. The Bulgarian ANSP had chosenCOMSOFT¡¯s message handling system AIDA-NG as their national aeronautical messaging switch. AIDA-NG has been implemented for EUROCONTROL¡¯s European ATM Communications Gateway (EGC) with its demanding requirements for system interoperability. AIDA-NG is the market-leading network node for ground-to-ground communication between ATC administrations and is capable of handling AFTN, CIDIN, AMHS and OLDI/FMTP operations. In the new AMHS technology it is involved in virtually all operational connections worldwide.
The two ANSPs strictly followed the elaborate test plan that has been stipulated in the EUR AMHS Manual, Annex E. Thanks to the sophisticated, easy-to-use system concepts and extensive training received from COMSOFT¡¯s AMHS experts, BULATSA¡¯s engineers accomplished the testing task with minimum support from the manufacturer.
Given the successful completion of the AMHS interoperability tests the two countries aim at establishing a permanent AMHS connection in the near future.
AMHS, in contrast to AFTN, is capable of transporting arbitrary aeronautical data content such as the upcoming XML-based formats according to the Aeronautical Information Exchange Model (AIXM 5.1) and Flight Information Exchange Model (FIXM). Both formats will play a significant role in future air traffic management.
